California Swim Run introduced the exciting sport of SwimRun to Southern California with 12k sprint races on March 6th and October 30th, 2016. Inspired by the Swedish sport that is sweeping the world, SwimRun is a challenging race with mixed-surface running and refreshing open water swimming.
Teams will race the 22k course as partners and stay together during all portions of the race both from a safety perspective and, because it's more competitive. Your registration is for a team of two (great deal) in one of three categories: Mixed, Female, Male. You do not need to add a teammate, your registration is for a team of two and you will be asked for your teammate's info during the registration process. If you do not have a teammate yet, you can enter TBD.
The top finishers in each category will receive a special award and all finishers will receive a finisher's medal. Racers will start and finish the race with all of their gear (including their partner). Teams will run and swim in their shoes and wetsuit (wetsuits are optional). Teams will be provided a water-proof course map, a whistle, a compression bandage, race bibs, swim caps, and a timing chip. The 22k course has 8 swims and 9 runs. 20% of the race will be swimming, the longest swim will be 1030 meters. The longest run will be 4,890 meters.
If you have what it takes, the California SwimRun race series is the gateway into the world of adventure racing and multi-sport competitions. These SwimRun races will prepare you to compete in international SwimRun qualifier races and ultimately, the ÖTILLÖ SwimRun World Championship: otilloswimrun.com, in Sweden!
